Pilots Activities Page - Saint Columba URC Liverpool

Some of our Pilots went on the National Pilots Fun Day at Warwick Castle and below is the video of some of the
highlights of the day.
Lets see if you can draw your own Pilots badge and remember what each part
of the badge means?

Stage 1 - Draw a circle - Our badge is round
and this reminds us that God's love surrounds us all and envelops the whole earth.
Stage 2 - We add the rough sea to our badge -
This reminds us that our life has both rough and smooth patches.
Stage 3 - Now we add the boat shape - This has
for hundreds of years been a symbol of the Church in the world. Boats feature heavily in the ministry of Jesus.
Jesus calls his disciples to be 'fishers of men'. The Ark has traditionally been as a symbol of the Church.
Stage 4 - Now we add the cross to the boat -
Christ is at the centre of the world, and Pilots. As the Cross stands in the centre of the boat, so the Cross
stands in the centre of our lives giving us stability and direction.
Stage 5 - Now we add the name beneath the
boat - The name on the badge is either 'Pilots', which applies to everyone in the organisation, or it
may be a particular group in Pilots; Deckhands, Adventurers, Voyagers or Navigators.
Stage 6 - We finally add the fish in the sea -
This fish has been traditionally used by Christians since the earliest times. The letters of the Greek word for
fish - ichthus are an acronym formed from the Greek words for 'Jesus Christ, Son of God, our Saviour'.
